About
meet the maker behind cabin threads
Aynslie is a semi-retired scientist and science advisor and sole proprietor of Cabin Threads. This women-owned and operated small business is based out of a small cabin / sewing studio on Aynslie’s treed property in Haines Junction. Aynslie’s style is defined by the use of bold, bright colours. She enjoys working with the highest quality cotton fabrics from modern designers like Ruby Star and Tula Pink. She also enjoys sewing technical fabrics to create bags that are durable, lightweight, water resistant, and well-suited for use in Yukon’s rugged outdoors. Aynslie’s bag designs minimize fabric wastage. All scraps larger than one square inch are saved and sewn into quilts. Her favourite time to sew is during midwinter, when it is dark and cold outside, the woodstove is going, and her dogs and cats — and CBC radio — are keeping good company.
